While composing stereographs I became preoccupied by what was moving in the scene and what was static (movement has profound implications for how you approach the shot, technically). This sub-project explored the space that peope create around themselves when they stop moving and become ‘part of the architecture’. In a stereograph, any differences between the two images do not resolve properly… they appear to jump, introducing a real sense of movement into the still image. In the cases below, I selected subjects that had already stood out from the chaos around them by virtue of their calm. The difference between exposures was about 1 second, and 8cm.
